Time Clocks - Overnight locking for Safes, Vault doors or ATMs'

Time locking is a serious security feature, and is ADDITIONAL locking on a Safe, Vault door or ATM to prevent any access whatsoever during the night, weekend / holiday period or for some predetermined time period.

Traditionally this has been done by a 2 or 3 movement mechanical clock device that is additional to the standard locking mechanism. It further locks the door for some time period (usually up to 144 hours) - during which time nobody can open the door.

Time clocks are supplied as either 2 or 3 movement 'redundant' systems to ensure a backup if one of the movements fails. The second or third movement will release and allow the door to be opened. Time clocks are contained within the door, with the face of the unit exposed through a cut-out in the door back to allow the time clocks to be wound, set and armed.

The mounting of the time clocks within the door must be very strong and entails accurate engineering work to locate the locking rod and the time lock mechanism itself, and to give precise alignment of the two components.
The locking rod (usually 12mm diam.) is welded to the bolt strap of the door mechanism :

Standard procedure is for the Bank / Jeweller / Pawn shop operator to set each time clock movement for a number of hours at the close of business each day.
The time set being the number of hours until the business is reopened.
